WHO fordert Transparenz zu Kinder-Lungenentzündungen in China

Die Weltgesundheitsorganisation (WHO) hat angesichts eines auffälligen Anstiegs von Lungenentzündungen bei Kindern im Norden Chinas die chinesischen Behörden aufgefordert, dringend zusätzliche Informationen bereitzustellen. In einer offiziellen Mitteilung der WHO, die in der Nacht auf Donnerstag veröffentlicht wurde, äußerte die Organisation ihre Besorgnis über die ungewöhnliche Häufung dieser Erkrankungen und die Notwendigkeit einer umfassenderen Aufklärung.

EU-Parlament beschließt strengere Grenzwerte der Luftverschmutzung

Das EU-Parlament hat am Mittwoch letzter Woche seine Verhandlungsposition zur Verbesserung der Luftqualität angenommen. Vorgesehen sind strengere Grenzwerte für Feinstaub und Stickstoffdioxid. Damit nähern sich die Grenzwerte den von der WHO empfohlenen Werten an. Für die Luft im Freien. Aber was ist mit der Luft drinnen? Da bleiben die Grenzwerte wesentlich höher.

Zu diesem Schluss kommt das auf Luftqualität speuialisierte Schweizer Unternehmen IQAir. Es hat nach eigenen Angaben die Ergebnisse von Messstationen aus 6475 Städten in 117 Ländern ausgewertet.
