DKD (German Calibration Service) accredited since 1994, the Zwick Calibration Laboratory now has the largest materials testing machine calibration laboratory in Germany. The DKD calibration certificates issued are proof of metrological traceability to national or international standards as required by ISO 9001 or ISO/IEC 17025, encompassing also the automotive industry with its specialized requirements to ISO/TS 16949. The laboratory's excellent level of equipment backed by years of experience makes it ideally suited to its role. The worldwide availability of this service is evidenced by the accreditation of sales partners Cipex in Argentina at the end of 2010, meaning that Zwick now has accredited calibration laboratories in Europe, Asia and North and South America.
On-site calibration of materials testing machines of all makes covers a very wide range of measurands, encompassing the load-measuring system in the tensile and compression directions, from 0.02 N to 3,000 kN (tensile) or 5,000 kN (compression), together with extension in the tensile and/or compression direction (max. 1,500 mm). Other candidates for calibration are hardness testing machines plus pendulum impact testers up to 750 joules. Zwick also provides calibration for non-accredited measurands - complete with calibration certificate and with proof of documentation to ISO 9001 if required. Typical examples include calibration of dynamic loads (e.g. Vibrophores) and torque (up to 2,000 Nm), together with verification of test frame and specimen alignment (ASTM E1012. Zwick also undertakes calibration of extrusion plastometers, for determination of melt-mass flow-rate (MFR) and melt-volume flow-rate (MVR), and HDT/Vicat testing equipment.
