The VIN Marker uses a 200 W fibre laser to create markings with a depth of 0.3–0.5 mm on steel and aluminium. Engraving takes less than 15 seconds per vehicle component. Thanks to its Profinet and OPC UA interfaces, the system can be integrated directly into MES and ERP architectures. The SafetyCone protects employees from laser radiation and allows operation in open production environments.
OEMs are under pressure to digitise their production processes while also meeting legal requirements, such as ISO 3779. In-line laser VIN marking saves time, reduces sources of error, and enables direct traceability. According to a PwC study, over 60% of European OEMs already use automated VIN systems connected to MES.
Application example:
In 2024, a German OEM integrated the Trotec VIN Marker into its final assembly line. Since then, the vehicle identification number has been automatically engraved on the frame, with the data transferred directly to the SAP system. The result is less rework and complete traceability. Customer statement: "Integrating the VIN markers into our line was a milestone — we have saved time and significantly improved quality."
