parts2clean 2013 cleans up with record exhibitor and visitor count

parts2clean nets major growth in 11th season – Bilingual format sparks unprecedented interest in expert forum

(PresseBox) (Neuffen, )
parts2clean is making an impressive job of building and consolidating its position as the leading international trade fair for industrial parts and surface cleaning. In its eleventh season, which ran from 22 to 24 October this year, the fair delivered record results on all key metrics. For starters, its exhibitor list boasted 264 companies, which is a 15 percent increase from 2012 – and an all-time record. And at 6,350 square meters (68,350 sq. ft), its leased-space tally was also unprecedented. The fair featured exhibitors from 16 countries, with 20 percent coming from outside Germany. The total visitor count over all three days of the fair was 4,982 – up just on 14 percent from 2012. And, yes, that’s a record too. The fair’s visitors came from 49 countries (as compared with 39 last year), meaning that around 20 percent of all visitors came from outside Germany. In another pleasing development, the fair’s bilingual expert forum attracted a record-breaking 2,181 participants.

“We are delighted that parts2clean has enhanced its performance significantly on all fronts and that our growth and internationalization strategy is bearing fruit,” said Olaf Daebler, Deutsche Messe’s director in charge of parts2clean. “Of course, the pleasing numbers tell only part of the story. The fair’s high level of exhibitor and visitor satisfaction are just as important if not more so.” This year, nearly all of parts2clean’s 264 exhibitors said they were satisfied with how the fair went.

Qualified trade visitors with high-level decision-making authority
One reason for the exhibitor’s high satisfaction levels – apart from the fair’s pleasing growth – is the high quality of the visitors in terms of their technical know-how and decision-making authority. About 90 percent of the visitors at parts2clean have input into their organizations’ capital investment decisions, and this is reflected in the largely project-specific dialogue that characterized discussions at the display stands. Hans-Jörg Wössner, Managing Director, acp – advanced clean production GmbH, Germany: “parts2clean has always been a solid performer for us, but this year we made about 20 percent more contacts than in 2012, which is a fantastic result. They included a large number of qualified and high-quality new contacts and inquiries, the majority of which related to dry, partial cleaning and integrated pre-assembly cleaning solutions. Chuck Sexton, Sales Manager Industrial Products at the US-based cleaning media manufacturer Kyzen, was equally pleased with this year’s fair: “Once again it was an excellent show for us. We made a number of very good contacts with cleaning media users from Germany as well as other countries, such as the Czech Republic, Poland, Spain and even the USA. parts2clean is also a good opportunity to build and strengthen our relationships with manufacturers of cleaning plant and equipment. We will be exhibiting here again in 2014.” Participation in next year’s parts2clean is likewise a clear-cut decision for Berthold Relling, Head of Cleaning Technology Industry/Laboratory at Elma Hans Schmidbauer GmbH & Co. KG, Germany: “parts2clean went well, and we are very satisfied. Our showcase at the fair yielded numerous new contacts – both here in Germany and internationally in countries such as England, Russia, Korea, India, the USA and Brazil. All of the industries that we sell to were represented at the fair.” Francesco Sala, Sales Manager at Lavo srl, Italy, also rates this year’s fair as a success: “parts2clean is the most important trade fair for our industry in Europe. In Stuttgart, we got in touch with potential customers from a wide range of industries.” Gaudenz Groen, Marketing Manager, Dürr Ecoclean GmbH, Germany, likewise attaches great importance to parts2clean: “We exhibit at a lot of trade fairs in Europe, but for us, parts2clean is easily the most important of them. The visitors we meet here tend to be of a much higher quality and much more interested in getting down to details because they come here with real projects in mind. Consequently, parts2clean is the trade fair where we unveil our innovations. For instance, this year, we showcased our EcoCCore product. The other main reason why we participate in parts2clean is that it is an excellent way to gauge the market and gather ideas for the development of new products.” These sentiments are echoed by Manfred Holzleg, General Manager, Safechem Europe GmbH, Germany: “Visitors come to parts2clean looking for expert advice and detailed solution proposals for specific task areas and cleaning problems. The level of technical detail that gets discussed here is really quite striking. And that’s why it’s so good that providers from all sectors of plant cleaning exhibit here. They can network with one another and find integrated, multidisciplinary solutions. Rudolf Knoth-Bambule of Knoth Automation GmbH, Austria, highlighted another key benefit of parts2clean when he said, “Participating in parts2clean is a major plus for me, and not just because of the excellent contacts I make there. It also spares me a lot of international travel because it brings so many key players together under one roof.” The parts2clean fair is also a valuable platform for meetings and market intelligence, as Hakan Gülecyük, Sales Manager, Everest Elektromekanik, Turkey, explained: “We exhibit at parts2clean primarily in order to win new customers and help market our products in Western Europe. But we also invite our existing foreign representatives and agents here for meetings and use the fair to find new representatives and agents. Another important aspect is that the fair is a good place to survey our competitors and their products. This gives us a valuable, first-hand impression of current market developments.”

Bilingual expert forum attracts record participation
This year is the second time that the tried and proven expert forum has been held on a bilingual footing, with simultaneous translation of all presentations from German to English and vice versa. “The fact that participant numbers have grown nearly 24 percent to 2,181 reflects the strength and depth of interest in knowledge-sharing in the international industrial parts cleaning industry,” Olaf Daebler said.

In 2014, parts2clean will be held in its new, mid-year slot – from 24 to 26 June – in Stuttgart, Germany, and will thus be co-located for the very first time with O&S, the international trade fair for surface treatments and coatings, LASYS, the international trade fair for system solutions in laser material processing, and the AUTOMOTIVE Expo, a suite of shows dealing with various aspects of the automotive industry.

Further exhibitor comments
Reinhard Züst, Head of Sales, Telsonic AG, Switzerland
“The visitor traffic is very brisk, and the quality of the visitors and their level of interest is outstanding. I’d say we’ll be back again next year, when parts2clean runs in parallel with O&S. We see that as an added benefit, because O&S will attract additional target visitor groups.”

Mario De Cenzo, Communication & Marketing, Dollmar S.p.A., Italy
“This is the first time we’ve exhibited at parts2clean. And although we only had a very small display stand and didn’t manage to secure the best location because we registered very late, I’m still pleased to say the show was a success for us. We have made some good contacts with companies from Germany, Spain, England, Japan, Italy and elsewhere. parts2clean is a highly specialized trade fair, meaning that its audience is made up primarily of professionals from the industrial parts cleaning sector. We are therefore seriously considering participating at parts2clean again.”

Franz Silberhorn, Managing Director, Maschinenbau Silberhorn, Germany
“We’ve been exhibiting at parts2clean since it first started in 2003, and I’m pleased to say this year’s showcase was once again a very successful one for us. The visitors to our stand came predominantly from the automobile and automotive subcontracting industries. We made a great many new contacts, including several from outside of Germany.”

J.R. Frederic Selchert, Consulting and Sales, Keller Mannheim, Borer Chemie AG (Switzerland) exclusive partner for Germany
“The fair is well structured and easy to navigate. The visitor quality is outstanding. Having strengthened our relationships with existing customers and made a number of very good new contacts, we are satisfied with this year’s show. Another plus is that the show features representatives from all areas of the industrial parts cleaning process chain.”

Vivi Yde Laursen, Project Manager Sales & Marketing, DST-KEMI, Denmark
“Our showcase at parts2clean has once again paid off for us. This year we presented Derust, a new product, which met with a great deal of interest, as did our entire product range. About half of the contacts we made were with companies we had not had dealings with before.”

Ingo Brünig, Key Account Manager, Excor GmbH, Germany
“As in previous years, we are satisfied with this year’s fair. parts2clean puts us in touch with our target market. We meet a lot of existing customers, but also companies that are new to us. parts2clean is an important forum for our industry. I’m sure there is still potential for growth, but it’s best to tread carefully in that regard, because transparency and ease of navigation is very important for the show’s visitors. In the space of just one day they can gain a very good overview of the market and engage in meaningful dialogue without feeling rushed.”

Ilse Render, Georg Render GmbH, Germany
“We encountered a great deal of interest. We’ve done very well in terms of meetings and contacts, and we expect that we will have a number of extremely interesting leads to follow up once the fair is over. About half of our contacts were with companies we’d not encountered before. They came from a range of industrial backgrounds, and we’re pleased to say we discussed a number of completely new projects with them. I believe parts2clean is the most important trade fair for the industrial parts cleaning industry.”

Bjarne Nielsen, Managing Director, IceTech A/S, Denmark
“This year’s parts2clean was one of the best showcases we’ve ever been part of. We made a lot of new contacts.”

Marino Casnico, Managing Director, MC GmbH, Germany
“We make nozzle systems and vent condensers. Our customers are primarily manufacturers of industrial plant and equipment, and parts2clean targets them perfectly. parts2clean is where we go in order to maintain and build relationships with existing customers and discuss problems and new requirements with them. The fair is also an opportunity to discover companies that are totally new to us and to talk with end users of our products. My impression is that parts2clean 2013 went even better for us than last year’s fair.”

Thomas Brock, Sales, OTEC Oberflächentechnik GmbH, Germany
“We’ve exhibited at parts2clean several times before, and this year the fair has exceeded our expectations. We encountered a great number of genuinely interested visitors at our stand, with new contacts outnumbering existing customers. They came from a number of backgrounds, including the jewelry, automotive and machine tools industries.”

Peter Ruoff, Head of Sales, MAFAC Ernst Schwarz GmbH & Co. KG, Germany
“This year’s fair was very much a success for us. Our daily statistics indicate that we had more visitors at our stand than in 2012. And, as usual, the quality of those visitors was very good. We had a high number of promising meetings and talks, and we received feedback on a number of new requirements. One thing we always like about parts2clean is that everyone who comes along has a new task or challenge of some form or other for the industrial parts cleaning industry.”

Tobias Jessberger, Director, Dr. Jessberger GmbH, Germany
“We manufacture drum and hand pumps, and I’m delighted to say that on each of the three days of parts2clean we met about 50 qualified visitors, which exceeded our expectations. The visitors came from Germany, various other European countries and South America and have specific project requirements that yielded concrete inquiries. We are looking forward to a pleasing level of post-fair business.”

Fred Burgstaller, Director Surface Treatment, Dr. Wieland GmbH & Co. KG, Germany
“We are very satisfied with what we’ve achieved at parts2clean this year. We made a large number of quality contacts and even sold a number of manual parts washing systems. We estimate that between 60 and 70 percent of our visitors came from Germany, with most of the rest coming from other European countries, leaving about five percent who hailed from further afield. The majority of these visitors came from the automobile and automotive subcontracting industries, the electrical industry, chemicals companies and mid-sized firms in the skilled trades sector. Day one of parts2clean overlapped at the Stuttgart venue with the closing day of the Südback bakery and confectionary trade fair, and this steered a number of bakery industry representatives our way. This is a totally new and extremely interesting area for us.”

Yaprak Bilgili, Key Account and Marketing Manager, Butek GmbH, Germany
“This year’s parts2clean was even better than in 2012. Our display stand attracted visitors from large corporations in the automobile and automotive subcontracting industries. At this stage it seems likely that we will undertake projects with two or three of these companies in the short term.”

Rainer Voss, Sales Representative, W&R Industrievertretung GmbH, Germany, exclusive sales partner for Sugino, Japan
“parts2clean is an important event for us because it is the only trade fair at which we can accurately target trade visitors from Germany who have an interest in parts cleaning and deburring solutions. For our Japanese partners, who were with us at our stand, parts2clean is an important trade fair because it attracts visitors from all over Europe and beyond. And this year’s parts2clean performed very well on that score. The visitors at our stand came with specific projects and application scenarios in mind – they were looking for answers to concrete questions and problems.”
