The textile and clothing industry offers a broad spectrum for solutions based on radio frequency identification (RFID). Along supply and service chains spanning the world highly attractive alternatives to the common barcode are opening up and are convincing in terms of safety, speed and transparency. Now the German Seidensticker Group, a brand manufacturer of blouses and shirts, also relies on the advantages of this technology.
Together with the Graz-based company RF-iT Solutions GmbH, the contactless radio technology is now being implemented within the Seidensticker Group to support logistic processes. “The production operations in Asia and Eastern Europe, the pre-picking departments at the manufacturing plants and the movement of goods in the central warehouse are integrated in this project”, explains Ulrich Eckardt, head of organization and data processing at the Seidensticker headquarters in Bielefeld. In a second phase, Seidensticker reviews whether RFID is suitable for the company for area control in retail.
In addition to increased cost transparency, further simplifications in the process and thus higher transparency, enhanced reliability of stock quantities and finally improved customer satisfaction are expected.
RF-iT Solutions contributes especially the experience from related pilot projects and also has a test laboratory at its disposal, which enables comprehensive live production simulations. „We are pleased about the cooperation and are convinced that the resource optimizations expected are realized at the end of the project“, says Dominik Berger, Managing Director of RFiT-Solutions GmbH.
