Applications such as machine vision systems, barcode scanners, real-time production monitoring, and data analytics require ever-higher transmission speeds. Passenger information and entertainment systems in rail vehicles, onboard internet connectivity, and surveillance systems also place significant demands on data transmission performance and connector reliability.
To meet these requirements, CONEC offers a comprehensive portfolio of CAT 6A-capable M12 x-coded connectors designed for Industrial Ethernet applications with data rates of up to 10 Gbit/s.
The connector series includes socket connector versions incl. SMT and THR variants, a field attachable connector with crimp termination as well as overmoulded axial and angled connectors.
For applications requiring connectors to be securely locked without visual alignment or tools, CONEC offers customizable connectors and panel-mount options featuring a bayonet quick-lock mechanism. Both panel-mount variants—straight and angled—are fully backward-compatible with standard threaded coupling systems.
Therefore it is possible to completely map the transmission path of a device installed in the field and the associated processing unit using CONEC connectors.
Socket connectors | overmoulded, angled two-piece, SMT/THR
In the product area of socket connectors, axial SMT and THR variants are available in addition to angled socket connectors/insulation bodies with print connection and/or bayonet locking and an overmoulded version with cable.
With the SMT/THR variants, the user can mount the board equipped with the insulation body in different socket geometries. CONEC sockets are suitable for combined mounting and ideal for designs where the M12x1 thread of the housing is directly moulded on, thus creating maximum design flexibility.
The dual and symmetrical arrangement of the contact springs refines the previous shield concepts through an axial and radial connection to the socket side and is the result of the requirement of low-resistance shield transmission.
Due to the radial shield concept, a considerable tolerance range can be compensated during installation without negative effects on the contact resistances. Electromagnetic separation of the four wire pairs according to CAT 6A is nevertheless 100%.
Automatic assembly of the connector is possible despite the spring elements. The board assembler can rely on a suction system and use the adhesive pad applied by CONEC to grasp the connector for the assembly.
As standard, the degree of protection is IP67 when mounted to the housing and IP20 in the mating face when not screwed in.
Advantages installation components SMT/THR
• Time saving due automated assembly
• Congenial to mount with differently flange geometries
• Low forces on the board
• Low contact shielding resistances
• Big tolerance compensation between board and housing
• Also mountable without CONEC-socket housings
Connectors field attachable screw termination or bayonet locking:
The field attachable connectors with crimp termination can flexibly accommodate wire cross-sections from AWG28 to AWG22. The advantage of the turned crimp contacts is a reliable and gas-tight connection to the stranded wire, which ensures consistently low contact resistance even under extreme conditions.
The X-coded, field attachable connector is protected against loosening due to vibrations during operation by means of tactile vibration protection.
The connector housing is completely made of metal and thus fully shielded. The connectors are designed for cable diameters from 4.5 to 8.3 mm and the shield connection is 360° on the full circumference. The field attachable connectors are tested according to railway approval DIN EN 45545-2:2016 R24 (flammability) and IEC 61373:2010-10 (shock/vibration).
Connectors overmoulded:
CONEC currently offers various pre-assembled cable lengths of the processed PUR cable with strand cross-sections 4x2xAWG26. The UL-listed cable has an S/FTP twisted pair construction and is suitable for temperatures in dynamic and static environments from -40°C to +80°C.
In addition to pure X-coded axial and angled connection cables, a M12x1 - RJ45 overmoulded variant is also available.
With the X-coded connectors in compact design, CONEC meets all requirements according to IEC 61076-2-109 and with regard to electromagnetic compatibility according to CAT 6 A standard up to 500 MHz. When mated, the connector complies with protection class IP67.
