Visit Fujitsu and experience 2nd Generation Mobile WiMAX at Mobile World Congress

(PresseBox) (Langen, Germany and Barcelona, Spain, ) Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe (FME) is showing its second-generation Mobile WiMAX silicon devices and Dual-Band solutions as well as commercial products based on Fujitsu Silicon at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. These latest silicon devices and chipsets are designed to enable the creation of mobile WiMAX subscriber systems such as CPEs, VoIP phones and handhelds.

Second-generation Mobile WiMAX

The new MB86K23 Mobile WiMAX baseband device from Fujitsu targets the expanding mobile PC market, with a 60% reduction in chip-set area and a 36% reduction in power consumption compared with its predecessor, the MB86K21. When combined into a chip-set with FME’s RF device, MB86K52, and power management device, MB39C316, very small form-factors can be realised – 20 x 40mm for WiMAX USB dongles or 30 x 26.8mm for PCI Express Half-Mini Cards containing both WiMAX and Wi-Fi functionality.

Fujitsu and Cisco demonstrate adaptive beamforming

A multi-application interoperable demo, including video streaming using mobile WiMAX with adaptive beamforming and multiple input/multiple output (MIMO) capabilities, is taking place on the Fujitsu stand. The demonstration uses Cisco's BWX8305 WiMAX base-station and Fujitsu's mobile WiMAX USB terminal featuring multiple video streaming and FTP files, which will be wirelessly transferred between the Cisco base-station and Fujitsu’s USB dongle.

Networking solutions and high-performance DACs

For wireline metro networks, Fujitsu offers Ethernet mappers and SDH/SONET add-drop multiplexers for next-generation converged networks. Fujitsu is showing devices designed for optical back-haul infrastructure applications in 10G/40G core networks and up-coming 100G Ethernet systems. The company is also exhibiting its high-performance digital-to-analogue converters including 14-bit 1.3GSa/s devices and the world's only true dual 14-bit 1GSa/s devices for wireless infrastructure applications.

Experts from Fujitsu’s WiMAX silicon team are available on the stand to talk visitors through the demonstrations and answer any questions.
