AREVA and EDF sign an agreement for the supply of fuel assemblies

(PresseBox) (Paris, ) AREVA and EDF have signed an agreement for the supply of fuel assemblies and related services for 2013 and 2014.


The two groups have also decided to negotiate a medium to long-term framework agreement on the production of fuel elements that reinforce the strategic partnership between AREVA and EDF in the supply of nuclear fuel.

The agreement signed and the one currently under negotiation provide AREVA with a clearer picture of its future production program.

Markus Birkhofer, Fuel Business Unit Executive Vice President, declared: "this agreement consolidates the historic relationship forged between AREVA and EDF for the supply of nuclear fuel. The deliveries will include the new M5® alloy which makes it possible to obtain excellent results in terms of an increase in the performance and reliability of assemblies. This agreement also bears testament to EDF's confidence in the quality and reliability of our products. Finally, this confidence motivates AREVA teams to put their experience to use in providing ever-improving solutions to EDF".
