The Plansee Seminar includes scientific contributions covering the entire powder metallurgical value chain of refractory metals, hard materials, carbides and their surface engineering – from ore and powder to end products and their uses. Additionally, participants will explore possible alternative sustainable raw materials, future applications as well as innovative and sustainable processes and technologies.
Heinrich Kestler, Secretary and Organizer of the Plansee Seminar, adds: "This year, we are also celebrating a special anniversary: 100 years ago, the element rhenium was discovered. To commemorate this, we have organized a special thematic block."
Promoting continuous innovation through young scientists
The 21st Plansee Seminar welcomes around 530 participants from 30 countries. This includes representatives from universities, research institutes, industrial companies and powder metallurgy associations, as well as students. To provide a platform for exchange and networking for young people in scientific and technical degree programs, the organizers are hosting a "Students’ Dinner" for the first time this year.
Karlheinz Wex, Chairman of the Board of Plansee Group, emphasizes the importance of scientific exchange at conferences like the Plansee Seminar: "The founder, Paul Schwarzkopf, intended to increase knowledge by sharing. Innovations and collaboration in development are crucial to advancing our industry, a prerequisite for market success. It is not enough to provide only materials and products. Customers need solutions to their problems."
A traditional industry gathering
Since 1952, the Plansee Seminar has been held every four years at the headquarters of the Plansee Group in Reutte, Austria. It was initiated by the company's founder, Paul Schwarzkopf, and is considered one of the most significant conferences in the industry. The Plansee Seminar offers an open, international platform for the industry to exchange regularly, share experiences as innovation and development partners and strengthen networks.
