Effective September 1, 2009 the Supervisory Board of the Weidmüller-Group appoints Volpert Briel as member of the Executive Board. Volpert Briel will assume responsibility for the Weidmüller Group's sales division. In this position he will advance the stabilisation of the domestic market and the expansion of the global sales organisations. The main focus will be on Central Europe as well as on the growing markets Asia and America. Volpert Briel is completing the existing Executive Board consisting of Dr. Joachim Belz (CEO) and Harald Vogelsang (CFO).
Volpert Briel comes from the mechanical engineering company Voith, where he established and directed the global division Small-Scale Hydropower. Prior to this the graduated engineer held different executive functions at ABB in the areas of energy, medium voltage and process industry. Volpert Briel began his career in the HVAC and building service technology, initially at Wende and Malter, later on at the American York International and the GEA AG.
