Pump Manufacturer and Specialist in Metering Systems Optimizes Supply Chain using wayRTS and wayMES

LEWA GmbH Implements Wassermann Solution for Efficient Planning, Scheduling and Synchronization

Munich, (PresseBox) - LEWA GmbH, a global leader in the manufacture of pumps and metering systems and provider of associated solutions, is introducing the use of the Advanced Planning & Scheduling (APS) software wayRTS (Real Time Simulation) and the production scheduling system wayMES (Enterprise Frontend) to optimize the process-oriented organization of its supply chain. Using these standard software solutions from Wassermann AG, LEWA is upgrading its existing SAP/R3 system to include powerful real time scenario technology. The software provides the basis for efficient communication between LEWA's supply chain management team and the company's service providers. This allows for optimum planning and scheduling within LEWA's production and supply network, using a workflow that is seamlessly integrated and fully synchronized.

LEWA GmbH, headquartered in Leonberg in the German state of Baden-Württemberg, is upgrading its SAP/R3 system by integrating Wassermann's wayRTS and wayMES solutions. In parallel with changes to LEWA's structural organization, the rollout establishes the best possible supply chain management structures throughout all aspects of the process-oriented value-added chain, from engineering, purchasing, production and assembly right through to distribution. "We are anticipating an increase in profit by the middle of this year. This can be attributed to an 8 to 15% reduction in stock levels in terms of volume, a reduction in processing and lead times, and improving delivery times so that at least 90 percent are on time," explains Boris Sinowenka, manager of the supply chain division at LEWA. Within the scope of the project, Wassermann's experts are responsible for interfacing the software with the SAP/R3 data management system and for providing support for organizational changes.

Operational Planning and Scheduling with wayRTS

The APS software wayRTS provides LEWA with a completely transparent view of the value-added process in terms of orders, primary requirements and resources. Wassermann's standard software supplements the SAP/R3 system currently in place at LEWA, adding powerful real time scenario technology.

Wassermann Project Manager Frank Dannecker explains: "The scenario technology incorporated into the real time software allows LEWA's scheduling team to simulate requests and other what-if scenarios, illustrating the impact on resources, deadlines and capacity without initiating operational measures." Planning results and the resulting worklists are generated very efficiently using wayRTS. These integrate and synchronize all units involved, including the design team and external subcontractors, as well as the appointed deadlines for dispatch. The wayMES tool, which is easy and intuitive to use, facilitates efficient communication between the supply chain management team and all internal and external service providers (production and suppliers), resulting in a seamlessly integrated, fully synchronized workflow.

Integrated and Fully Synchronized Workflow with wayMES

The wayRTS tool enables LEWA's planning team to optimize the scheduling of orders, providing the basis for resource planning and sequencing. Individual order packages that have been checked for feasibility in terms of scheduling and capacity are provided to all the units involved in the chain electronically using the web-enabled wayMES tool. The activity backflush also takes place via wayMES-the necessary plant data collection functions such as current time recording and notifications concerning partial quantities, wastage and reworking are integrated to this end. LEWA customers will benefit from this efficient workflow in the future.
