From connected construction equipment and artificial intelligence to building information modelling: digital technologies in the construction industry can make a significant contribution to cost transparency, efficiency and adherence to schedules. The better availability of data for all project participants ensures transparency and networking. Schedules, costs and risks can be determined more easily, earlier and more accurately. Nationwide, however, many construction projects are still analogue. The causes for this are diverse. Complicating factors are undoubtedly a great individuality of construction projects as well as the large number of contributing parties.
In addition, a lack of digital expertise in many sectors of the industry prevents the advance of digitization. Besides a uniform digital level of the construction industry, new ideas and business models are necessary to appropriately react to the constantly changing requirements of the customers. The 2nd VDI conference "Smart Construction Equipment 2018" informs about the challenges and opportunities that the increasing digitization of the industry entails and gives an overview of the possible effects on companies.
Top-Topics of the "Smart Construction Equipment" Conference are:
- The Future of Digital Construction
- What is new: Telematics, Communication & Data Management
- On-Site Safety of Smart Construction Sites
- Off-Site Construction & 3D Printing
- Automation of the Construction Site
- Visualisation & Drones in Construction
The conference will be held in English.
