A brand new winter sports event, the first World Deaf Alpine Skiing Championships, was held from 23 February to 2 March in Nesselwang, Germany. Realising how important it was going to be to be able to rely on powerful power one hearing aid batteries for the event, the hearing aid battery team at VARTA decided to support the good cause. After all, the athletes' hearing aids and power one premium batteries make the perfect combination, providing a particularly high level of performance.
73 sportsmen and women from 12 countries worldwide took part in the international competition. There were five different alpine skiing disciplines for the skiers to enter, with general categories for men and women, as well as for juniors and masters.
Young sporting talents achieving good positions were rewarded with power one trophies, donated by VARTA Microbattery.
The German national team was made up of Philipp Eisenmann, Michael Glatt, Simon Glatt, Alexander Müller, Max Pähler, Moritz Pöppel, Sebastian Göppel, Bernd Weitgasser and Werner Locher.
Between them, the German athletes won three gold medals, six silver medals and four bronze medals. The VARTA Microbattery power one team would like to offer them our congratulations.
