TÜV Rheinland has just secured two new contracts for Vehicle Technical Inspection Plants in Chile. Signed with the Chilean Transport Authority, the contracts cover the Ñuble and Biobío regions, for ten and eight years, respectively.
Dr. Matthias Schubert, Executive Vice president of Mobility, says: ‘TÜV Rheinland has been conducting vehicle inspections since the birth of the automobile, and we maintain a global presence for our services. Our Group is already a market leader for PTI in Chile, and we are very proud to further reinforce our position and offer an improved service to the inhabitants of Ñuble and Biobío. The purpose of PTI is to keep all vehicles safe and environmentally friendly, so it is important that the service is as easily accessible as possible. TÜV Rheinland’s new facilities will directly benefit areas that currently do not have this service, creating jobs and reducing waiting time, too.’
Both contracts cover 13 inspection lines, distributed between five Technical Inspection Plants. TÜV Rheinland will have 12 months to implement the new stations and they will benefit the 600,000 vehicles registered in the region.
In Chile, the purpose of the technical vehicle inspection plants is to carry out the technical inspection of light and heavy vehicles concerning road safety and gas emission control, following the regulations of the Chilean Ministry of Transport.
