Hamad International Airport (HIA) in Doha is the latest Qatari project in which the company has participated, in addition to other major projects such as the Tornado Tower. A total of 385 ThyssenKrupp elevators, escalators, and moving walks will comfortably transport passengers through the facilities of the newly inaugurated airport.
One of the world's newest international hubs, HIA is located just four kilometres away from the current Doha International Airport, and covers an area of 2,200 hectares, more than half of which has been reclaimed from the sea. The facilities will accommodate 50 million passengers and 320,000 take-offs and landings when it is fully operational with a total of five terminals. When complete, the airport's current 41 boarding gates will increase to 65, with six gates only serving the Airbus A380 fleet.
