Small modular reactors revolutionize the nuclear energy industry

(PresseBox) (Herisau, )
The use of nuclear energy could experience a turning point through the use of SMRs.

Energy production needs new approaches in order to produce enough safe electricity and to successfully counter the CO2 crisis. Compact nuclear reactors, especially those with molten salt, could dispel fears from previous accidents. They promise a flexible energy source that can be used in industry as well as in remote areas. The Small Modular Reactors with a capacity of less than 300 megawatts of electrical power can be mass-produced and assembled in a modular fashion. Data centers in particular, as huge energy consumers, are striving to cover their energy requirements with SMRs. The focus is on reducing greenhouse gases and increasing security of supply. Today, large, water-based nuclear power plants still dominate, the construction of which devours large amounts of energy and costs. SMRs require around 80 percent less energy to build and score points for greater safety. They also use HALAU, a fuel enriched to 20 percent U-235, which can reduce radioactive waste by up to 90 percent.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has just announced the "Plan for Change". Nuclear energy and the use of SMRs are to be promoted. A second nuclear power plant unit is also being planned in Slovenia and an action plan for small modular reactors has been presented. In Estonia, too, a state planning procedure is to pave the way for an SMR, with construction scheduled to begin in 2031 and the first electricity generation in 2035. What the small reactors need, just like their big brothers, is uranium.

Uranium companies such as IsoEnergy - https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/isoenergy-ltd/ - can supply this. The company owns high-grade uranium deposits in Saskatchewan (Athabasca Basin) as well as in Australia, Argentina and the USA.

The first company in the royalty and streaming sector is Uranium Royalty - https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/uranium-royalty-corp/ -. In addition to interests in development projects, decommissioned projects, advanced, permitted and producing uranium projects, Uranium Energy has a large physical uranium holding.
