With the certification SAP examines how far the hosting partner gears its offering to the particular requirements in the cloud, for example by means of flexible billing models, high security standards, availability and service, and the knowledge of the staff.
Infrastructure resources and industry solutions for SAP from the cloud
Therefore, with its offering for ICT outsourcing and cloud computing, Pironet NDH primarily addresses small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). Hosting customers can, for example, obtain infrastructure resources from the service provider's Business Cloud to exactly suit their requirements for operating their outsourced SAP system. In this case Pironet NDH operates the SAP environment in its high-security data centers using classical managed hosting. Business customers' ERP systems, however, are supplied with computing power and storage space dynamically and on demand from the Business Cloud. As a result, companies no longer need to maintain infrastructure resources all year round to cope with short-term peak loads, but adjust the performance of their ERP system flexibly to current requirements.
In addition, together with software partners, Pironet NDH offers industry and special solutions for SAP under the Software as a Service model. Companies which wish to expand their SAP system by the addition of a web shop or real estate portal, for example, procure the software as a service from Pironet NDH’s Business Cloud. Instead of paying fixed licence charges, the users pay per month.
Access to SAP via a virtual cloud PC
Pironet NDH customers also work in the cloud with the SAP client. Pironet NDH provides business customers with the local SAP user interface as a component part of a virtual PC desktop. The Desktop as a Service solution gives companies' employees access to a complete Windows computer from the cloud, with standard applications such as Microsoft Office, Outlook and other programs. This enables companies to offer their employees greater flexibility when selecting their workplace, because the cloud approach allows users to utilise their office environment, including SAP, securely on any computer with web capability. Companies also profit because, for instance, they no longer need to configure PC workstations in a home-office locally. A client roll-out for SAP, for example for locations which are distributed internationally, can then be performed centrally, thus saving costs.
Quality signal to the market
“We regard the new SAP cloud certificate as an important quality signal to the market,” explains Dr. Clemens Plieth, Managing Director Service Delivery at Pironet NDH. “It enables customers to recognise which service providers have the technical infrastructure, the processes and the know-how to combine SAP solutions and cloud computing. As a result, companies obtain genuine added value from the cloud for their SAP.”
