Dietze Group only runs SaaS business applications

Cologne, (PresseBox) - The Switzerland-based Dietze Group, which has operations in Europe, North America and Asia, runs its entire software landscape, merchandise management and production monitoring systems on the basis of Software as a Service (SaaS). The manufacturer of precision components for the lighting industry as well as semi-conductors and connectors outsourced its business applications to Pironet NDH. The ITC outsourcing service provider also provided a MPLS-based corporate network solution to ensure secure and reliable access to all data and applications. Pironet NDH runs the company applications, including an ERP industry solution based on Microsoft Dynamics NAV, an archiving solution as well as MS Office and MS Exchange in the company's own high-performance computer centre.

Flexible ITC costs instead of unnecessary old licenses

The rising costs for in-house operations were the main factor in the decision to outsource all company applications. One element responsible for driving costs was the constant updating of individual applications. "As a result of ongoing software changes and requirements, we accumulated a series of unused licenses which we still had to pay for," explained Ronald Weiss, Commercial Manager at Dietze Group. "By outsourcing our applications, we always have access to the latest software. The flexible pricing model bills us per user, application and month, allowing us to adapt our ITC costs to our actual requirements."

Only 48 hours

The system relocation needed to be done in a very short period of time: "Our production systems rely on the enterprise resource planning data. For this reason, it would have been necessary to stop our machines for a longer migration phase," said Hans Faisst, the responsible Works Manager at Dietze Group. Pironet NDH managed to convert the software landscape within a 48-hour period over the weekend. Since the conversion to the new SaaS solution, Dietze Group is now able to adapt its application requirements in real time.

"We only need to register new users - the rest is taken care of. It is also important that the system support all necessary languages," Faisst explained.

Secure location network

Pironet NDH uses a secure corporate network solution to supply all software services to seven Dietze Group locations in Switzerland, Germany, Slovakia, the US and China. Each production facility is still equipped with its own application server and measuring devices. These forward the inventory and consumption data from the production systems to the enterprise resource planning solution and archive system at the Pironet NDH data centre.

Comprehensive solutions for medium-sized companies

"In addition to demand-based "software as a service" solutions, companies will also expect their service providers and software partners to provide infrastructure and other ITC services in the same model," said Khaled Chaar, Director Business Strategy at Pironet NDH. "With our portfolio of application operations, managed network services and storage on demand, we are well equipped to respond to market demands for comprehensive ITC solutions."
