Organic Electronics Conference on track to break all records

(PresseBox) (Frankfurt, )
.

- Exhibition sold out - more space sought
- Speaker programme filled
- 100% increase in peer-review papers

Cambridge, UK and Frankfurt, Germany - 2 July 2007 – With 100% of exhibition space already sold months before the event, the speaker programme already filled and a 100% increase in submissions of peer-review papers compared to 2006, all the indications are that this year's Organic Electronics Conference and Exhibition (OEC-07) is set to be the biggest and most exciting in its five-year history.

Hosted by cintelliq, the organic semiconductor industry specialist, and by its conference partner the Organic Electronics Association (OE-A), the key industry association for organic electronics, OEC-07 is unique as an event because it is industry-led and industry-focused. It aims to cover all aspects of organic electronics (encompassing flexible and printed electronics) and organic semiconductor technologies.

Organisations from across the industry have been so eager to exhibit at OEC-07 that all the space that was initially allocated for the exhibition sold out more than three months before the event. OEC-07 is currently negotiating with the venue, the Sheraton Frankfurt Hotel & Towers in Frankfurt, Germany, to see how additional exhibitors can be accommodated.

Each day of the conference will begin with plenary sessions in which keynote speakers including the European Commission, iMedia Advisory and the OE-A will make presentations. The conference is then divided into three commercial tracks with invited speakers, and one peer-reviewed track. The programme of invited and peer-review speakers is now filled and will feature nearly 100 speakers over the course of the conference which runs from 24-26 September 2007.

Conference delegates will benefit from focused presentations delivered by established multinational organisations such as BASF, Degussa, Dai Nippon Printing, DuPont, Kodak, LG.Philips, Merck, Siemens, Sony, and Samsung, as well as from organisations exclusively focused on organic electronics such as Cambridge Display Technology, CENAMPS, E Ink, Konarka, Nanoident, Novaled, OLED-T, Plextronics, PolyIC, Polymer Vision, printed systems, Sumation and Thin Film Electronics. (A comprehensive list of speakers is available on the conference website: www.oec-europe.com.)

In the peer-review track, twice as many abstracts were submitted to the peer-review committee this year compared to 2006. Because of the large number and high calibre of the abstracts received, the peer-review committee selected not only 22 papers for oral presentation in the peer-review track and but also a further ten papers for presentation in a poster session.

Four pre-conference workshops on 24 September will help new entrants to the industry get up to speed with developments in technology, intellectual property, and commercial activities, while industry professionals will benefit from workshops providing more in-depth coverage of applications, standards, printing processes and manufacturing issues.

As a new feature this year, workshop participants will also be able to take part in visits to local companies MAN Roland Druckmaschinen and Merck KGaA.

The conference Gala Dinner on the evening of 25 September will host the presentation of the 2007 Organic Semiconductor Industry Awards (OSIA). Three awards will be presented: Start-up of the Year, Research and Development, and Best Peer-Review Paper. Nominations for the 2007 awards will close on 16 July 2007. Shortlisted entries will be announced at the start of September. See www.cintelliq.com/osia for more information.

Craig Cruickshank, cintelliq founder and CEO, said, “The continued and growing interest being shown in OEC-07 reflects the dynamism within the organic semiconductor and organic electronics industry as a whole, and we can expect to hear some exciting company announcements made during this year’s event.” He continued, “OEC-07 will be the fifth conference in the series and cintelliq is planning to take the opportunity to look back on industry developments over this time, as well as looking forward to the future of this emerging industry.”

Wolfgang Mildner, chairman of the OE-A, said, “OEC-07 is the central forum and marketplace for this industry and consequently the place to inform the community about recent progress at OE-A: the expansion of our worldwide activities and the update of our roadmap for organic electronics. We will also show other projects of our members like demonstrators that combine a large number of organic electronic modules, and thus show off the great potential of this technology.”
