Nature photos in XXL format

Neschen sponsers nature photography festival "horizonte Zingst" 2012

(PresseBox) (Bückeburg, )
From May to June 2012, the nature photography festival "horizonte Zingst" is showing large-format digital prints directly by the sea. The organisers are mounting an outdoor exhibition of photographs by Dresden artist Betty Schöner, who has put together a series of macro images of marine animals entitled "Seamore". In actual fact, these are XXL portraits of the sea's inhabitants, realised as giant three-by-three-metre fine-art prints standing on the beach at the Baltic Sea resort of Zingst.

"The open-air exhibitions are characteristic of the horizonte nature photography festival," says curator Klaus Tiedge. "Installations in close proximity to the beach are a big attraction. As the exhibits are exposed in this case to extreme climatic conditions, the digital prints must fulfil the highest quality standards."

This is where the print media and protection films from Neschen AG in Bückeburg come in. The self-adhesive PVC film "solvoprint easy 80 GSP removable" is printed with the new Epson inkjet system SureColor SC-S30600 using special inks. These are weatherproof, that is, UV and water resistant.

In addition, the digital prints are laminated with the Neschen protection film "filmolux photo satin". This gives the exhibits - alongside mechanical protection - an attractive, glossy surface finish. Since the film's surface prevents unwanted reflections, visitors are not dazzled even by strong sunlight when looking at the exhibits.

To date, protection of UV-curable inks using water-based adhesive film such as filmolux photo satin has proved problematic. UV inks have a coarse structure which means that water-based adhesives stick badly or not at all. This is not the case with the water-based polyacrylate dispersion from Neschen AG: it develops superlative adhesive power and, furthermore, is considerably more environmentally friendly than conventional solvent-based materials. The excellent water resistance of Neschen's acrylate adhesive even permits exhibits to be erected outdoors for up to two years, without additional edge sealing.

"This pioneering adhesive belongs to today's class of water-based acrylic emulsions," explains Frank Seemann, head of Marketing and Communication at Neschen AG in Bückeburg. "It opens up numerous opportunities for applications for which up to now protection films with solvent-based adhesives have been selected. This therefore also makes it ideal for use at the open-air event on the Baltic coast in Zingst."
