FreeRTOS support for 78K0R and V850 microcontrollers

NEC Electronics Europe supports license-free open source real-time operating system

(PresseBox) (Stutensee, ) Thanks to the official support by NEC Electronics Europe, users of the 78K0R 16-bit microcontroller series and the 32-bit V850 MCU family, which are distributed by Gleichmann Electronics, can now also use the license-free real-time operating system, FreeRTOS(TM) , in the development of their application.

FreeRTOS, which was developed specifically for embedded microcontroller systems and is distributed under a modified GPL license, is simple to use, requires minimal ROM and RAM resources and can also be used in commercial applications free-of-charge. Performance, operating characteristics and quality are nevertheless certainly comparable to commercially available products.

The FreeRTOS organization has been in existence for over five years. More than 7000 downloads per month underlines the high market acceptance.

The FreeRTOS documentation, source code and program examples for 78K0R and V850 microcontrollers are available for download from the Internet at Questions relating to the use of FreeRTOS in combination with NEC Electronics' 78K0R and V850 microcontroller families will be answered by Gleichmann Electronics' specialist. MSC Technologies GmbH

Founded in 1979, Gleichmann & Co. Electronics GmbH, in the same company group with MSC Vertriebs GmbH, has established itself as one of the leading pan-European distributors of electronic assemblies and components. One of the reasons for the high acceptance by customers and suppliers is the company's early focus on comparatively few, highly sophisticated products such as microcontrollers, programmable logic devices, displays and customer specific power supplies. From this, the resulting in-depth technical know-how of our sales engineers and field application engineers today enables us, if required by the customer, even implementation of complete new designs right up to the finished product. With two of its own ASIC design centers, the Gleichmann research laboratory in Austria and one of the largest and most modern programming centers in Europe, Gleichmann Electronics takes a leading role in terms of service and customer support.
