SportsCurve GmbH announced today its partnership with ICEdot on the distribution of ICEdot safety solutions in continental Europe. ICEdot products protect adventure sports enthusiasts such as cyclists, skiers, and motorbikers who are frequently pushing their limits – often alone. ICEdot syncs a secure online profile with a unique PIN. In case of an emergency (ICE), the PIN can be text messaged to a designated number and an automatic reply will be sent back containing critical information regarding the injured person.
ICEdot has the ability to offer as little or as much information as the user wants communicated in an emergency. ICEdot’s latest product, the Crash Sensor, is expected in the coming months and has generated global interest. The Crash Sensor is a slim device that will mount on any helmet. When paired with the ICEdot app on a smart phone, the system is able to detect motion, changes in forces and impacts. In the event of an impact, the device sends critical data to the app which sounds an alarm and initiates an emergency countdown.
Unless the countdown clock is stopped, the app will notify your emergency contacts and send GPS coordinates of the incident so that appropriate follow up actions can be taken. The ICEdot System was developed for competitive athletes and action sports enthusiasts and is quickly gaining in popularity in the United States. Recently the company announced that USA BMX would be providing the service for all racers participating in the sport.
The costs of the ICEdot service is 10 € per year, the ICEdot Band (without a sensor) will be available online or at sports retailers for 19.90 €. The ICEdot Crash Sensor is expected to be sold at a recommended sales price of 159 €.
