inter airport Europe 2007

Preparing airports to look ahead

(PresseBox) (St Albans, )
When inter airport Europe opens its doors from 9 to 12 October 2007 in Munich, Germany, it is set to be this year¡¦s highlight for airport professionals worldwide. 570 exhibitors from 30 countries will display their latest technologies, systems and products, encompassing all aspects of the airport industry.

¡§Due to outstanding demand, we had to again extend the inside and outside floor space of the exhibition. Now, three months ahead of the show, the exhibition is nearly sold out,¡¨ explains Show Director Nicola Hamann on behalf of the organisers, Mack Brooks Exhibitions Ltd. ¡§Many companies have booked bigger stands this year to demonstrate even more of their products live to the exhibition audience. 60% of our exhibitors come from outside Germany, with a large number of companies from the USA, Scandinavia, Italy, France, Benelux and Great Britain,¡¨ says Nicola Hamann.

The 16th International Exhibition for Airport Equipment, Technology and Services will be held again in the exhibition grounds of Munich International Airport, just a few hundred metres from the airport¡¦s main terminal. The show is the global meeting point for international buyers, vendors, consultants and system integrators, crossing all sectors of airports, airlines and ground service companies. In 2005 inter airport Europe attracted 12,100 trade visitors from 126 countries.

Air traffic continues to grow

Most recent forecasts for air traffic continue to show worldwide passenger growth: an average 4% annual growth is predicted for the next 20 years. This means that by 2025 over 9 billion passengers a year will use the world¡¦s airports. Freight operations will see an average growth of 5.4% annually in the same period.ƒx Airport operators will only benefit from these positive prospects if they meet the requirements for handling these huge numbers of passengers and high volumes of freight. They therefore need to expand their infrastructure and invest large sums in enhancing their terminals and airfields.

One stop shop offers whole range of airport equipment

inter airport Europe 2007 is considered to be the one stop shop by international airport professionals, as it displays the whole range of exhibits to meet the requirements of a modern airport. Clearly divided into three main areas, the show offers a comprehensive array of infrastructure, equipment, products and services in terminal operations (interTERMINAL), specialist hardware and software (interDATA) and ground support equipment, ground handling and airport facilities (interRAMP).

After new security rules were adopted last year at airports, it is only natural that security screening using biometric recognition systems and the latest high tech detectors for dangerous liquids and weapons are major attractions at the interTERMINAL sector of the show. The display of products presented in this sector encompasses the whole spectrum of efficient solutions for check-in, security and immigration control. Visitors will find all aspects of passenger handling: from parking facilities, trolleys, monitors and moving walkways to check-in desks and passenger screening equipment. Recent trends in cargo handling show enhanced airfreight handling systems, newly developed loading equipment and warehousing systems.

The interDATA sector showcases security, handling and management solutions. Experts in IT technology will offer their visions and know-how while demonstrating the latest software for planning, recording and controlling flight and handling operations. Advanced self-check-in technology and biometric readings, such as iris, facial and fingerprint recognition systems, will again be a major point of interest. New systems, such as simplified passenger travel via mobile phone, give an idea of how passengers will be guided through the airport in the future.

Ground support equipment and services as well as airside technical equipment in the interRAMP sector of the show traditionally attract a large number of visitors. Powerful aircraft tractors, aircraft de-icers, fire-fighting vehicles, hydraulic work platforms, aircraft refuellers and snow sweepers make the Outdoor Area a showcase for heavy equipment on the aprons and runways. Customised solutions for airfield lighting, runway safety systems, and solutions for environmentally friendly runway maintenance round off the range of exhibits in the interRAMP sector.

Specialist in freight handling and logistics will find everything they need at inter airport, too: freight handling equipment and infrastructure systems, ensuring the reliable, efficient transfer of goods and food, complete the scope of the exhibition.
