LWP DOKscan 4.0 released for deployment on Windows Server 2008 Release 2

Applications running on Microsoft´s Remote Desktop Services may now access scanners attached locally to workstations in a very efficient way.

(PresseBox) (Ettlingen, ) After passing comprehensive testing successfully, LWP GmbH has now released LWP DOKscan 4.0 for deployment on Microsoft´s Remote Desktop Services of the new platform Windows Server 2008 Release 2. This applies also to Citrix XenApp 6.0 and every virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) based on the session protocols Citrix ICA or Microsoft RDP/RDS. DOKscan 4.0 now supports the operating systems Windows Server 2003/2008r1/2008r2 for application servers and Windows XP/Vista or Windows 7 for virtual desktops and workstations.

New technologies for desktop virtualization and cloud computing burst the unbroken trend to centralize and host applications in datacenters instead of running them locally on the user´s workstation. Very often the access to scanners attached to remote workstations in an adequate way cannot be managed “out-of-the-box” by core virtualization products. High data volume caused by image data and sensitive scanner control requires the deployment of special software solutions to manage scanner access and data transfer.

LWP DOKscan provides an optimized driver, selected and adapted for the requirements of a virtualized application infrastructure. The DOKscan TWAIN driver communicates with the native TWAIN driver on the workstation and takes care of a bandwidth-aware transport of the image data, with the best compression ratio for a given quality level.
