With the new certified CODESYS programmable safety controller Kuhnke FIO Safety PLC, Kendrion Kuhnke Automation extends its product portfolio and enters into a new league as significant automation manufacturer. The safety solution is based on well proven technologies and industry standards such as PLCopen.
After successful TÜV certification for its safety controller, Kendrion Kuhnke Automation now also received the PLCopen safety certification. The August 2017 newsletter of PLCopen states:“We are glad to announce that one of our members has been awarded the PLCopen Safety Certificate: Kendrion Kuhnke Automation GmbH for their product Kuhnke FIO Safety PLC. This brings the total number of certified companies to 8,and of certified products to 10."
Due to this certification, the decentralised Kuhnke FIO Safety PLC SIL3 safety controller conforms to IEC 61508 and is ready for easy system integration. CODESYS is used as configuration and programming tool. Data transmission takes place via EtherCAT/FSOE. CODESYS provides numerous certified safety function blocks, such as emergency stop, two-hand operation, muting and so on. All of them conform to PLCopen. If required, the user can also develop custom-designed function blocks for his specific application. This allows safe controlling and continuous monitoring of all FSoE slaves, such as drives or IOs.
