The fact that modularity brings cost-effectiveness and flexibility has been proven by the KOMET GROUP in many different tool systems from continuous drilling to boring and also reaming. However, the smaller the hole diameter, the more difficult it becomes to realise replaceable cutting edges in the form of indexable inserts or replaceable heads. The KOMET® KUB K2® drills are based on a toolholder with a cylindrical shaft, to which the double-edged carbide replaceable heads are adapted. This takes place via a patented separation point, which is both self-clamping and self-centring. Cutting head replacements are easy to carry out - even in the machine. The replaceable head system makes it possible to use many different high-end geometries. For example, drilling can take place with a full feed; tiresome and time-consuming feed reductions are not required. The combination of optimum chip formation and the adapted surface finish of the chip channels provides outstanding chip flow. The toolholders also achieve maximum performance and service life thanks to the special surface finish.
Toolholder variants in 3xD, 5xD and 7xD and replaceable heads in two coating variants "BK8425" and "BK2725" for machining steel, cast iron and stainless materials are available from stock. The diameter range of 10 to 15.9 millimetres that has been available to date is covered in graduations of 0.1 millimetres. Other diameters of up to 20.5 millimetres will follow. Detailed information and the use of the KOMET® KUB K2® can be looked up at www.kometgroup.com/en/k2 or viewed in the video.
