The order, received by Jenoptik from Waleed Associates and the Royal Oman Police, covers the delivery of several hundred units consisting of stationary speed and red-light monitoring sites and upgrade kits for previous generations. The order volume is in the low double-digit million euros range. Deliveries will be extending from the 2nd half of 2012 to the 1st half of 2013. In addition, Jenoptik is providing planning assistance, supplying software for processing traffic violations, conducting training and will support the commissioning of the systems. In 2005, Jenoptik had already supplied traffic camera technology to the Sultanate of Oman. The follow-up order confirms the continued success of Jenoptik radar technology for increasing security on the roads of Oman.
The stationary speed measurement systems are based on the latest radar technology and are fitted with the high-resolution Jenoptik Robot SmartCamera IV. The system provides precise measuring results across several lanes and operates inside specially air-conditioned modern housings. A system which can record both red-light and speed violations simultaneously will be used at the red-light monitoring locations. It is based on the innovative 3-D tracking sensor, which can simultaneously monitor several vehicles and lanes.
The innovative technology from Jenoptik aims to make roads in the Sultanate of Oman even safer. The overwhelming majority of the country's approx. 2.5 million people live in cities with very high volumes of traffic. With the new order, Jenoptik is continuing to build on its success as a supplier of the latest traffic safety technology in the Arab world. Jenoptik has already successfully supplied Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, making it the leading partner for improved traffic safety in the region.
