The contract was awarded by the Australian Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) to two companies. The total order value amounts to 33 million Australian dollars (about 23 million euros) over a period of three years. The order value for the Jenoptik Traffic Solutions division is in the lower double-digit million euro range. The new traffic safety program by the RMS is to increase speed monitoring in New South Wales from previously 6 to approximately 45 mobile vehicles delivering 7,000 enforcement hours each month.
The Traffic Solutions division will process their share of the order through the Australian Jenoptik subsidiary headquartered in Sydney, which will provide technical equipment and enforcement services for the state. Deliveries will start this year, with the full program of 7,000 monitoring hours to be delivered by early 2014.
Jenoptik as operator of the systems will receive payment based on the number of hours of enforcement carried out. Revenue from the speed infringements will go into the Australian Community Road Safety Fund to bankroll further traffic safety programs, among others in the vicinity of schools.

The provider of traffic safety technology had previously been the sales and service partner of the Jenoptik Traffic Solutions division in Australia.
