InfraTec is the exclusive Jenoptik distribution partner for thermal imaging and IR cameras worldwide with the exception of the North American and Japanese market and military applications. The new contract will mean the continuation of the success story of the cooperation arrangement between the two companies which stretches back nearly 15 years. It offers promising prospects for the future and secures a clear level of growth for both partners.
Thermal imaging cameras operate by using infrared heat radiation which is invisible to the human eye. They are used in industrial and scientific research, e.g. in the development of PCBs as well as in preventative maintenance for electrical equipment and systems. In recent years Jenoptik has successfully invested in the development of state-of-the-art, high resolution thermal imaging cameras for industrial and security technology applications. This is reflected in particular by the market success of Jenoptik's VarioCAM® high resolution camera family.
About the Defense and Civil Systems division
In the Defense and Civil Systems division Jenoptik combines electrics/electronics and mechanics with laser sensor systems, optics and optoelectronics within complex components, systems and facilities. It focuses on the areas of ground-based observation platforms for intelligence gathering und reconnaissance as well as military and civil vehicle and aircraft equipment: generation and supply of electrical energy, stabilization technology for weapons and optoelectronic sensors, radomes for military aircrafts well as composite structure elements for civil aircrafts, and additionally, mechatronic components and subsystems.
For the security and space industry Jenoptik offers optoelectronic systems, multi-spectral camera systems for earth observation, sensor systems for orbit and attitude control of satellites as well as software. In the laser and infrared sensor systems area its focus is on the development, manufacturing and marketing of laser distance measurement equipment and infrared camera systems for various applications.
With just under 1,100 employees the division generated sales in 2007 of approx. 180 million euros. It maintains production sites in Wedel near Hamburg, Jena, Essen and Altenstadt. The origins of the division go back to ESW GmbH and Jena-Optronik GmbH as well as the laser and infrared sensor systems business areas of JENOPTIK Laser, Optik, Systeme GmbH.
