A few months ago, the two former ship operators of the Hurtigruten ships which travel along the Norwegian coastal line; OVDS and TFDS, joined their businesses under the name of Hurtigruten ASA.
All existing contracts and usage rights for the OCEAN reservation system were then transferred from OVDS to Kystopplevelser, the tour operator of the newly found Hurtigruten ASA.
The head-office of Kystopplevelser ltd. is found in Bodø. The main benefit of the Ocean suite is the direct connection to the Hurtigruten inventory system HUBRO. OCEAN can query the availabilities of all Hurtigruten ships and make bookings online, including a cabin reservation.
OCEAN is also connected online to the Amadeus flight reservation system, allowing the users from Kystopplevelser to query and book online any flight directly in Amadeus, without having to load complex base data. The users do not have to know the specifics of HUBRO and Amadeus, because they only work with the OCEAN masks. All transactions are handled by OCEAN and converted in the background into the specific formats of the external systems. For the users this means easy procedures in ONE central system while at the same time that system is handling transactions online with external supplier systems.
