Turbocharging plays an important role in reducing CO2 emissions. Most diesel engines are already equipped with a turbocharger - now, engine developers put increased focus on finding solutions for boosted gasoline engines. It is estimated that by 2015, turbochargers will find their way into over 50% of gasoline powertrains. Attend our 5th International Conference Advanced Downsizing & Turbocharging to hear about the latest developments in the industry and talk directly to experts.
For large engines the big challenge is to enhance the high specific power and efficiency whilst reducing emission levels (NOx and SOx) with variable quality fuels. This will require turbocharging systems for very high boost pressure, efficiency and a high degree of system flexibility. Following topics will be discussed in detail at the conference:

• The potential of ultraboost – improving fuel economy by 35% of a spark ignition engine through downsizing
• Heat loss optimization of a turbocharged diesel engine and ways to accomplish CO2 reduction
• Gain insight into thermo-mechanical fatigue on turbine housings and learn how to increase product maturity in an early product development stage
• Model-based calculation of the boost pressure set point resulting in minimized fuel consumption for diesel engines
• Potential of two-stage boosting for downsized and downspeeded engines and its advantages to maintain performance feel for common class B, C, and D vehicles
