Intertek's Green Leaf verification mark is a third party assessment and certification program. The mark provides proof that a product has been independently verified and found to conform to multiple existing environmental regulations. The Green Leaf Mark is used on product packaging, in point of purchase displays, product advertising and literature to explain a product's environmental credentials. The program is based on independent verification of data submitted by suppliers and the company.
Through the program HP has independently assessed and verified various health and environmental metrics as part of the company's commitment to environmental sustainability. The HP Indigo digital presses carrying the mark are the WS6600 Digital Press, the 7600 Digital Press, and the 5600 Digital Press. The Intertek Green Leaf metrics certify the exclusion of substances classified as harmful to the environment and health, including regulated 'substance of concern', heavy metals and aromatic amines. It also certifies the elimination of many hazardous substances typically used in offset printing and independently verified recycling claims including the sound recovery and treatment of used consumables such as cartridges and imagining oil recycling and other environmental sustainability aspects.
"We are delighted have our three HP Indigo digital presses carry the Intertek Green Leaf. HP is committed to environmental sustainability and the Green Leaf Mark allow us to demonstrate the independent testing and evaluation of the environmental effects of these products and their recyclability and communicate this clearly to our customers", states Yogev Barak, Director, Current Business Management, HP Indigo.
"Intertek's Green Leaf verification programme is comprehensive. It covers a wide range of global regulatory and industry standards for the health and environmental impact of products and how companies articulate those to their consumers. The verification process is rigorous and we are pleased to support HP as one of the world's leading technology brands on their commitment to sustainability' said Dr. Ruud Overbeek, Vice President of Global Health, Environmental, and Regulatory Services at Intertek.
