Axel Schult, head of INTERSCHALT MET, presented Second Officer Boileau-Goad with a certificate as a remembrance of the special occasion. It goes without saying that the Briton successfully passed the ECDIS course test. Boileau-Goad was enthused about the simulation possibilities provided on four ship bridges - one with a 270 degree panorama and three with a 120 degree view - and the four different manufacturer's systems available on demand: " The Training was marvelous, a friendly, helpful and patient instructor - Mr. Michael Neumann, who was able to answer our questions before we asked them. A wonderful set up, very lifelike. A very useful tool for both awareness of the system and reminding oneself of the training."

INTERSCHALT MET: Courses and Simulator Training

With the Maritime Education and Training Center (MET) training facility, INTERSCHALT - a provider of services and equipment in the maritime industry - is oriented toward various target groups: from nautical officers, technical officers and captains to pilots and ship owners personnel. The offerings range from an introduction to basic maritime knowledge to engine control room and bridge simulations. In addition to the generic and type-specific ECDIS training, the MET provides courses for the Interschalt MACS3 loading computer, fleet management software Bluefleet and the Bluetracker ship monitoring software. INTERSCHALT's training portfolio makes it possible for all participants to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills in an increasingly complex maritime environment, and to adapt to wider-ranging and rapidly changing technology. "With our training of crews, we make an important contribution to safer seamanship and navigation - including emergency management. Only highly qualified personnel react fast and correct in an emergency. In the MET, our extremely realistic bridge simulators makes? it possible to practice in an envrionment, where errors have no consequences. Ideally, the trainees don't make the same mistake a second time", explains MET head Axel Schult. To prevent errors, seminars are offered to cover all aspects of hazardous goods transportation. Related courses keep on-board hazardous goods appointees up-to-date.
