In addition to selection, implementation and client-specific customization of an M2M and IoT platform, exceet Secure Solutions recently developed functionalities as a concept study for machine control in industrial environments, to be unveiled at the booth of DMG MORI. So just what can the new solution do? The best way to find out is to visit the EMO Milano 2015.
Innovative App for Efficient Condition Monitoring
“The human role in intelligent, connected production environments is in flux”, explains Rolf Kettemer, software development expert at DMG MORI. “The control aspects of intelligent, connected machines and facilities are growing more complex all the time, so the aim must be to assist rather than overwhelm the human factor. exceet Secure Solutions certainly mastered this challenge in developing the Condition Analyzer.” The app, which is integrated with the uniform and app-based control surface CELOS®, delivers overviews of the current status of production processes, provides real-time feedback on malfunctions and thus permits immediate reactions to critical situations. To manage the app, exceet Secure Solutions developed a user-friendly user interface that help machine operators and maintenance staff stay continually informed of the current status of machines operating within connected industrial production facilities anywhere in the enterprise, and to be able to conduct reliable remote diagnoses.
Integrating the Industry 4.0 Application into the Machine Environment
To implement this plan, it wasn’t going to be enough to just visualize the data. To be able to import the machine data into DMG MORI’s production control system CELOS® in the first place, the experts first had to realize an efficient backend connection equipped with all the capabilities needed for use in success-critical environments. This meant that CELOS® had to be integrated with an M2M and IoT platform. exceet Secure Solutions relied on its broad M2M and IoT expertise to support the client not only in selecting a suitable platform, but also customized this platform in line with specific customer requirements and implemented the system within the customer network. A maximum focus on security aspects was maintained throughout. “What the DMG MORI project did was encourage us to think about digitalization from an entirely new angle”, explains Björn Peters, Head of Segment M2M/IoT at exceet Secure Solutions AG. “The goal was to give the data a whole new level of information content. That meant entirely new requirements and functions for the connectivity solutions. This in turn meant holistic approaches – one of our strengths, and indeed the one that allowed us to succeed at DMG MORI.”
About the Condition Analyzer App
The Condition Analyzer App is a productivity-enhancing tool which DMG MORI can make available to its customers. Rapidly available and easily understood overviews of current status information on the production process as well as live evaluations of the current operating conditions of running machines – anywhere, anytime, and even across enterprises – offer a wide range of benefits, especially for large manufacturing enterprises with long assembly lines because they guarantee an effective, complete and error-free flow of information between machines and humans. The mobile interface also gives customer enterprises much faster control access, allowing them to react far more quickly to critical situations.
