Coming soon: transfairlog, the new trade fair, opens in Hamburg in June 2012 with a wide-ranging display

(PresseBox) (Munich, )
June 2012 in Hamburg - the world of logistics will be boosted by a new trade fair: transfairlog. Its focus will be on the efficient organisation of internal logistics processes as well as the optimisation of international freight transport. Totally geared to business, it is specifically intended for professionals and managers from the fields of supply chain management, procurement, production, storage, dispatch and IT in industrial, commercial and service companies. In addition, it is the ideal meeting point for exchanging information for suppliers of transport and logistics services.

transfairlog takes place 12 to 14 June 2012 in Halls A3 and A4 of the Hamburg Trade Fair Centre. The variety of exhibitor offerings ranges from storage and operating equipment, transport packaging and identification via handling and transhipment technology through to the presentation of maritime and inland ports, freight forwarding, shipping companies, rail companies and intermodal transport. Technical equipment such as vehicle accessories, telematics solutions, dispatch, freight forwarding, storage and customs software round off the exhibition line-up.

When it came to choosing a site for a trade fair which combines international transport and logistics management under one roof, organisers EUROEXPO Messe-und Kongress-GmbH deliberately opted for Hamburg. "In the north of Germany there is no high-quality logistics fair offering both exhibitors and visitors the opportunity to meet in an international environment. This centre for the international exchange of goods with a trimodal infrastructure is ideally located for organising a professional platform at the highest level for all those who have a critical role to play in logistics and transport processes," says Julia Kinzelmann, who is responsible for the fair in the capacity of Project Manager.

The Hanseatic city is regarded as an important transit hub for Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. As well as Central Europe, the focus is therefore on the economically robust North Sea and Baltic Sea region.

This thematic focus is also reflected in a number of knowledge forums (lecture topics) being offered alongside the fair in the top-class supporting programme.

transfairlog will offer international exhibitors and trade visitors from Central Europe and the entire northern European and Baltic region a regular platform for professional information exchange and the presentation of up-to-the-minute logistics solutions.

At the inaugural event, the 2nd German-Finnish Logistics Forum will be staged in parallel with the fair on the second day - Tuesday 13 June - by the consulate general of Finland in Hamburg. In addition, Finnish companies will also be introducing themselves on a collective stand at the fair. Finnish ports including HaminaKota, Helsinki and Turku will be there, along with Freight One Scandinavia and Finnlines.

Logistik-Initiative Hamburg e.V., the co-operation partner of transfairlog will, along with Hamburg Hafen Marketing e.V., also bring together major industry representatives on their stand "Gateway Hamburg".

To date, international exhibitors from nine countries, for example Rail Cargo Austria AG, Transconsult B.V. from the Netherlands and the Latvian transport company SIA N Logistiks Expedition have already registered for transfairlog.

The field of software, primarily covering solutions for efficient route planning and telematics, will be strongly represented, thus meeting the requirement for a very good overview of the market. In the supporting programme, too, the need for information is reflected around new solutions in this core area. Thus, Professor Claus C. Berg from Gesellschaft für Verkehrsbetriebswirtschaft and Logistik GVB e.V. will present the results drawn up by the study group on "Practical problems in the use of telematics systems" in one of the knowledge forums and discuss with experts and leading suppliers necessary future developments.

Under the title "Logistics software from the cloud", the CEO of EffizienzCluster Management GmbH, Dr. Christian Jacobi, will also look into the question of whether service-oriented software development passes the practical test. Users and suppliers will report from everyday corporate practice with cloud solutions and draw some initial conclusions.

Behind transfairlog lies a special and distinctive concept. As an alternative to many other packages on offer in the trade fair industry, we are consciously aiming for a compact, informal event designed to facilitate high-quality contacts in a friendly atmosphere. We will deliberately dispense with spectacular effects. "We want to create a fair which has real value for exhibitors and visitors from the very beginning," according to Julia Kinzelmann.

Alongside the trade fair, transfairlog 2012 offers an extensive supporting programme including company presentations, live demonstrations and knowledge forums featuring well-known speakers and industry insiders from the worlds of business and science.

On three lectures areas in the middle of the exhibition halls, renowned experts will speak on a mixture of practical and strategic topics. Altogether, 15 knowledge forums will be offered on the three days of the fair, giving visitors and exhibitors alike an opportunity to gather information on current challenges, developments and solutions.

In addition to the telematics and software forums already mentioned, one forum will deal with the challenges of offshore logistics. Against the background of the gradual nuclear phase-out in Germany, a change of direction in energy policy towards green energies such as electricity from wind turbines has now been decided. However, these ambitious goals are difficult to achieve, as hardly any standards and experience exist when it comes to the construction and supply of offshore farms. What the wind farm operators need are ideas for intelligent production supply, cost-effective repowering and efficient spare parts provision, which are the focus of attention in this forum.

Under the title "The hinterland connections of German maritime ports - a competitive factor affecting eastern European growth markets", the trade magazine 'SUT' ('Schifffahrt Hafen Bahn und Technik'), in co-operation with the 'Verein zur Förderung der Elbschifffahrt', is hosting a knowledge forum on 14 June. Eastern Europe is one of the most important global growth markets. Alongside bulk goods traffic, container transport shows the highest growth rates. In supplying eastern Europe, the German maritime ports are in competition with the Rhine estuary ports and ports in the Baltic. The quality of the seaward approaches to Bremerhaven and Hamburg as well as the rail and waterway infrastructure into the hinterland will decide the future development potential of the German maritime ports. In the short lectures and a final panel discussion, the future opportunities for hinterland transport by rail and inland and feeder vessels to Germany and to the growth markets of Eastern Europe will be explored.

There will be further knowledge forums not only on the subjects of "The North Range ports in competition for logistics flow systems in maritime supply chains" but also "The Baltic Sea Region (BSR) - a competitive gateway region for carrying-traffic", "Electro mobility in practice?" and "Efficient logistics management using auto ID technologies". Other lectures, for instance on "Towards zero emissions" or "Training & careers in logistics", reflect the challenges of resource efficiency and lack of skilled personnel. The programme is supplemented by additional live demonstrations, e.g. on the subject of cargo securing and the "Forum 30M", which offers exhibitors the opportunity to present their approaches to efficient logistics in 30-minute lectures.
