MEXICO WINDPOWER is the most important forum for the wind power industry in the region and gathers high-level professionals, experts and companies from all over the world. MEXICO WINDPOWER is organized by E. J. Krause de Mexico, the Mexican Wind Energy Association AMDEE and the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC). The next edition of the international congress and exhibition will be held February 28th till March 1st at Centro Citibanamex in Mexico City.
There is a high wind energy potential since the implementation of the statutorily determined energy reform. The opening of the electricity market offers new business opportunities for international companies and besides technical equipment, there is a need of Know-How from abroad. The growth of the population and industry is leading to an extension of generating capacities. Within the next years the energy output will nearly double. The Mexican government determined that 35 % of the power should be gained from non-fossil sources until 2024 and 50 % until 2050 (source WWE).
Mexico´s energy ministry SENER affirms the important role of wind energy; more than 1,500 wind turbines operating in Mexico and 5,1 billion dollars are invested in the country for wind projects since 2004. The sector is showing impressive growth and competitiveness. SENER has indicated plans to invest 79 percent of a $90 million investment towards Mexico’s power generation in renewable energy sources up to 2030. Wind power will take a 23 percent slice of this investment, the largest share of any energy sectors.
MEXICO WINDPOWER 2018 will attract government officials, experts, suppliers and manufacturers from all over the world. National and international exhibitors presenting successful solutions and technologies in wind resource utilization. Companies like Aldesa, BASF, Climatik, Kluber, Acciona, AWS Truepower, Gamesa, GL Garrad Hassan, Vestas, Suzlon, Siemens and Nordex confirmed their participation. Attendees' area of interest increased for generators, blades and materials, electronic control systems and turbines. The high-level congress program is focusing on Mexico´s wind energy potential and the energy reform as well as new technologies.
