During his time as a founding member and later as CEO of OneSpin Solutions, Dr. Raik Brinkmann succeeded in developing and marketing commercial and user-friendly EDA products from an initially difficult-to-use and limited-application but highly innovative formal verification technology and methodology. Numerous BMBF research projects such as Verisoft, Herkules, Fortissimo, Scale4Edge and ultimately VE-VIDES were excellent starting points for researching and developing valuable user-relevant verification tools with industry and universities and successfully bringing them to market. With the sale of OneSpin to Siemens EDA in May 2021, Dr. Brinkmann has succeeded in anchoring the promising technology of Formal Verification in the sparse German EDA landscape.
The EDA Achievement Award is presented for special research and development achievements in the field of EDA (Electronic Design Automation and "Electronics, Design and Applications"). It is intended to highlight and reward achievements that have been made in projects of the German government's framework program for microelectronics research or in comparable R&D programs, including international ones.
The prizes were awarded for work by individuals or teams that made a particular contribution to achieving the goals of the above-mentioned programs. Particular consideration was given to contributions that have brought about a measurable and thus demonstrable improvement or acceleration of the design process and thus an industrial benefit.
