Dimetis GmbH, an international Systems Integrator and OSS supplier to world-class Broadcasters, Cable Operators, and Media Carriers, has been awarded an order from ARD-Sternpunkte for a new DVB Cable Television Head End. Three different bouquets of public ARD content will be supplied to German cable operators through approximately 75 video and 120 audio channels.
Dimetis will be supplying its full turnkey system integration servcies from initial design through installation, as well as numerous products in its Dimetis BOSS© (Broadcast OSS) platform, including: BROADCAST Manager, STREAM Viewer, STREAM Recorder and BROADCAST NetView 1000. All Dimetis BOSS software products are designed as modular, scaleable packages, capable of supporting essentially all DVB operational needs and requirements.
Already in use throughout ARD’s Broadcasting Group, Dimetis BOSS BROADCAST Manager configures, controls and monitors all devices and services -regardless of manufacturer- within a broadcast/head-end facility, collecting status and operational information. It displays the entire signal flow through one unique, centralized graphical user interface, simplifying operations and reducing costs. Upon detection of operational problems, immediate error correlation can be performed to isolate the root cause fault and initiate corrective action.
Communicating with Dimetis BOSS BROADCAST Manager, STREAM Recorder and STREAM Viewer monitor IP-based DVB transport streams for TR101/ETR 290 compliance as well as for certain MPEG content anomalies (e.g. black frame, freeze frame and audio loss). STREAM Viewer decodes and displays multiple video streams along with audio bar graphs on a configurable viewing screen layout while STREAM Recorder monitors signal integrity based on various programmed criteria. Faulty streams can be instantly identified, recorded for review/archival purposes, and reported up to BOSS BROADCAST Manager.
Additionally, ARD’s outside IP distribution network will utilize Dimetis BOSS BROADCAST NetView 1000 monitoring software. In conjunction with strategically placed 3rd party hardware probes, various network level parameters (e.g. MDI-Media Delivery Index) will be monitored. Integrated communication with BROADCAST Manager ensures a tightly coupled system where quality of service and experience is optimized across the entire network.
