Based on recent successful installations, DALIM SOFTWARE is focusing additional resources on the use of DALIM ES and DIALOGUE Engine for package and label printing.
ES 3 provides a streamlined customer-facing environment, combining tasks such as color-accurate softproofing with the business logic of project planning, with milestones and sophisticated approval processes during the production lifecycle of packaging. Agencies, designers, marketing services and printers can work together, from design of the first mock-up through to the final print. Sharing joint projects with participants from creative to print production is easy, through any standard web browser. Users are automatically involved at the appropriate stages of the workflow production cycle, including review and approval of corrections and revisions. By offering a system allowing everyone to track projects, and getting all supply chain partners automatically involved with the review process, ES makes it possible to shorten production times.
ES can be used for a variety of files such as graphics or CAD, text documents, 3D renderings and videos, supporting and streamlining management of document versions. For example, packaging is often created in multiple versions, such as for different geographic markets. ES is often used as a centralized system that concurrently manages translation of packaging copy while it is overseeing the production workflow.
“During the prepress stage of packaging, ES handles our entire operational process. From receipt of data files to delivery of plates, everything is produced from this web platform. Our customers also have real-time access to view the progress of orders and can easily and quickly request corrections, or approves files,” explains Victor Götsch, CEO of BG-PACK GmbH, specialists in pre-press solutions for package printing, based in Zurich, Switzerland.
Equipped with a simple, yet powerful API, different components of ES can interface easily with any third-party system such as Product Life Management), Enterprise Resource Planning, Digital Asset Managers, and others.
DIALOGUE Engine: Accurate softproofing for brand packaging colors
Proofs are often required for last minute client changes or final approvals. But with tight deadlines, traditional proofing might not be suitable. The DIALOGUE Engine server can be integrated into any DAM or custom-designed web page — adding soft proofing to systems clients are already comfortable with any document is instantly available in a standard web browser. With DIALOGUE Engine accurate softproofing technology ES offers an onscreen color proofing solution that is both reliable and easy to deploy.
Supply chain partners can visualize packaging elements and colors, including opacity, opaque white and special inks, such as metallics. The new Pantone color management feature — along with SWOP and Fogra certification — let’s anyone simulate offset, flexographic or gravure printing onscreen. DALIM SOFTWARE’s server-based closed-loop monitor calibration system makes quality assurance easy — even at remote sites. For accurate color, users just plug the colorimeter into the computer’s USB port and the system assures that the monitor is calibrated correctly. Users (with permissions) can control the layout, access a virtually unlimited zoom, dynamically compare different versions, check texts, make annotations and submit correction requests online. Comments are stored on a centralized server, avoiding communication issues. Using DIALOGUE Touch, entire projects can be viewed and annotated from an iPad or iPhone.
“DALIM SOFTWARE looks forward to meeting with global packaging developers during Salon de l’Emballage. With DALIM SOFTWARE tools, printers can optimize and streamline the packaging production supply chain from brand owners through print,” comments Bertin Sorgenfrey, DALIM SOFTWARE Head of International Marketing. “We find that printers gain production efficiencies and reduce approval cycles. With the use of DIALGUE Engine, they save the cost of paper proofs and, of course, the delivery charges.
“By centralizing all the data at the center of the multiserver ES platform, printers can gain control of their own partnered networks, along with efficiencies that can provide a substantial advantage over their competitors,” adds Sorgenfrey. “We find that many printers who have benefited from the management of brochures, posters and magazines are now implementing ES modules that can enable them to manage the production cycles of packaging, as well.”
