Solutrans: ContiTech Expands Air Spring Range for the Commercial Vehicle Replacement Market

ContiTech Air Spring Systems has expanded its product portfolio for the commercial vehicle replacement market with the addition of 18 new types of air springs. This includes weight-reduced air springs, which were specially developed for the latest generation of the Mercedes Actros series. ContiTech is an original equipment manufacturer of this popular series and is now also able to offer the compatible air spring types in OEM quality on the replacement market.

As well as the main 6122 N type, other variants for all standard Actros designs are available. What makes this family of air springs so special is the lightweight, patented plastic pistons. Compared with the use of steel components, the weight of the vehicle can be reduced by 12 kilograms per axle. In addition to the potential fuel saving and the related reduction in CO2 emissions, the low weight also enables an increase in payload. The internal volume of the piston can also be fully utilized thanks to a special new manufacturing process, which considerably increases the comfort of the air suspension.

The new air springs are also listed in the updated ContiTech Air Spring Systems 2016/2017 product catalog. For the first time, QR and GTIN codes have been used in the publication.
