WeRoam and MTT are launching international WLAN roaming service to Russian subscribers

(PresseBox) (Bern, ) January 22, 2008 – Moscow, Russia and Bern, Switzerland. ОJSC “Multiregional TransitTelecom” (МТТ), an international and domestic long-distance telecommunications operator in Russia, and WeRoam, a leading worldwide WLAN roaming provider, have entered into a cooperation to launch international WLAN roaming service to Russian service providers and their subscribers.

At the first stage, after a successful period of service testing at the end of 2007, МТТ and WeRoam have implemented outbound roaming, to provide Russian Wi-Fi users with access to WeRoam’s aggregated global hotspot network. The world wide WeRoam footprint spans over 35’000 Wi-Fi hotspots from 54 network operators in 62 countries.

To connect to a WeRoam partner network, Russian subscribers can use their existing login and password, received from their ‘home’ Wi-Fi service provider. It is expected that the number of Russian Wi-Fi operators to join this project will increase in 2008.
«МТТ is performing a unique project for Russia, that opens new possibilities for Russian Wi-Fi operators in providing modern and hi-technology services for their subscribers,” – commented Igor Zabolotny, MTT acting General Director.

“The number of Russian travelers visiting foreign countries is constantly growing. WeRoam is very happy to have won MTT as a partner and to provide worldwide broadband access to their customers”, said Toni Stadelmann, Vice Chairman of Comfone.
