“Cooperation between business and research is essential. The major projects of tomorrow begin in places like Hagenberg, where companies and educational institutions work closely together. I, myself, studied here in Hagenberg over 15 years ago, and set up my first company in this environment,” said Michael J. Kräftner, founder and CEO of CELUM.
Win-Win: Successful Combination of Business, Research and Teaching
CELUM and the Hagenberg technical university have been partners for many years. CELUM has been a member of the support association for university degree programmes in Hagenberg since 2012, and has been sponsoring a lecture hall since 2015, as well as getting involved in celebrations and fairs. On October 20th, CELUM will be represented with a booth at the FH>>next career fair. As well as the university in Hagenberg, CELUM also works with the JKU in Linz and universities in Wels and Steyr, e.g. within the realms of diploma or project work.
“Aside from the teaching of specialist skills, practical training is a significant criteria for our students when choosing their courses. This can only be guaranteed by our close cooperation with companies and institutions. Involvement of our partner companies, like CELUM, is an important part of this,” said Dr Berthold Kerschbaumer, FH OÖ Dean of Information, Communication and Media in Hagenberg.
“We are currently growing faster than ever, and investing a massive proportion of our turnover into research and development. Research cooperations play an important role in this,” added CELUM CEO Michael J. Kräftner.
Support for Start-Ups and Young Companies
As an independent company, CELUM wants to take on the role of a leader, supporting software start-ups with capital, logistics and know-how with the newly created corporate incubator celianventures. Since the middle of this year, celianventures has been investing start capital of up to 100,000 euros, and allowing start-ups access to the CELUM company and branches across the globe. The CELUM headquarters in Linz and the new branch in Hagenberg are playing an important role as hubs and pivot points.
