LAN-AD16fx: Data Acquisition System with Safety Plus
Measurement specialist bmcm, celebrating 20th anniversary, introduces DAQ with next-generation network technology at SENSOR+TEST 2014. With "PoE", the new DAQ system LAN-AD16fx features more flexibility and increased safety for measuring.
In the field of measurement and control, safety and security do not only mean avoiding risks or dangers, but also produce certainty and reliability: A safe DAQ system provides well-founded, reliable measuring results.
No wonder that this year's "SENSOR+TEST 2014" in Nuremberg has chosen the multifaceted term "Safety and Security" as the main topic.
As every year, measurement manufacturer BMC Messsysteme GmbH (bmcm) will be present as exhibitor at the trade show, established as the biggest and most important measurement fair in Europe.
Under the motto "Feel safe with 20 years of experience" the specialist for data acquisition, signal conditioning, and measuring data analysis emphasizes a special aspect of safety and security: Long-time know-how and existence on international markets, continuously refined and well-engineered products, as well as availability and good customer service are an important basis for the user's trust and satisfaction.
At SENSOR+TEST, bmcm will first-time present the latest release of his high-end DAQ system which records signals via network at many remote measuring points via great distances.
The LAN-AD16fx has been equipped with new features, but is still available at the same price of the previous model LAN-AD16f.
Especially to mention is the PoE function: "Power over Ethernet" means that the device is supplied via the Ethernet cable. This is a great advantage in case of missing power supply or tight space at the measuring point and saves installation costs.
The following points demonstrate the safety aspects of the LAN-AD16fx:
1. Safety against power failure
Due to the central PoE supply of all DAQ systems, measuring setups with test points at many different places only need one common UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) unit being installed. Loss of measured data caused by mains failure can be prevented with low costs.
2. Safe data transmission
The integrated TCP/IP protocol checks if all sent data packages arrive correctly. Communication between the DAQ system and the PC that does not arrive will be resent.
3. Safe sampling
With 250kHz overall sampling rate, even smallest signal peaks will not remain undetected. Especially when transmitting high amounts of data, the network technology of the LAN-AD16fx is unbeatable.
4. Safety against interferences and dangerous potentials
All channels, power supply, and PC are galvanically isolated from each other and safe against any perturbations. Even with 100m cable length, 12.95W usable power is guaranteed according to the IEEE802.3 standard. High potentials created by connecting machines or other consumer load do not affect DAQ system or PC.
5. Safety for humans and PC
Measurements across great distances are no problem if using the network. If the measuring point is in rough environment (e.g. extreme height, dirt, acrid fumes), the PC is installed in the laboratory. The technician can analyze the measured signals in comfortable environment without being exposed to harmful effects.
6. Reliable measuring results
Several LAN-AD16fx devices installed at different places allow for synchronous sampling in real-time. The overlay of measured data makes the detection of correlations and after-effects much easier.
That's for sure: 20 years of experience in measurement combined with the use of innovative technologies are a certain plus not just for bmcm but also for the user.
