The deal further deepens Axios' strength in the UK public sector, in which it already has over 100 customers, including Cumbria Constabulary, Thames Valley Police, West Mercia Constabulary and the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA).
South Yorkshire Police is using Axios' award winning assyst solution to control over 5000 assets to increase the availability of its services. It intends to use its resources more effectively with assyst and improve its IT performance. The Information Systems Department (ISD) are currently adopting ITIL practices - a new mandatory requirement from the National Policing Improvements Agency (NPIA) - and are looking to use them to improve efficiency.
Robert Robinson, Communications Manager at South Yorkshire Police says, "With the new NPIA directive in mind we knew that assyst was the best product for our requirements. As well as being fully ITIL aligned, we were shown by Axios consultants exactly how the solution would work for us. With the comprehensive consulting we received from Axios, we feel like engineers of the system and feel confident about running it ourselves."
National Policing Improvements Agency (NPIA) - ITIL Assessment
The National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) has emphasised the importance of the issues surrounding governance and best practice standards in IT.
Each constabulary in the UK is now being advised to develop and manage its IT systems in accordance with industry best practices and to deliver business aligned services. The NPIA has chosen ITIL as the framework for best practice IT Service Management, and from this, the Information Systems Strategy for the Police Service (ISS4PS) has imposed a minimum standard to which all constabularies must reach, based on this framework.
Each constabulary must complete an ITIL Self Assessment in order to adhere with the NPIAs new guidelines. The aim of this is that once each constabulary is ITIL aligned they can provide improved IT service provision to their individual areas and work together with other police forces around the UK to share information more efficiently.
Ailsa Symeonides, Sales and Marketing Director at Axios Systems says: "We have a strong track record with more than 100 UK public sector customers and we expect to see more deals coming through, from police forces in particular, across the country as they look to follow the NPIAs ITIL directive."
