- arvato Systems North America and hybris form joint R&D team focused on solving future commerce problems today
- Together, hybris Labs and arvato Systems will pre-empt the next big trends in commerce and enable the retail industry and commerce landscape to rapidly change and evolve
The latest innovation to come from hybris Labs is the Smart Wine Shelf. An Internet of Things (IoT) application, the tool helps customers, confronted with a variety of choices too big for them to handle, to find those bottles of wine which best match their taste. With the assistance of a mobile application called "Wine Wizard", the customer defines his taste in wine. Based on these preferences, those bottles that suit the customer are highlighted through LED's on the wine shelves. If the customer then selects one of these bottles, they will receive further information – displayed on a screen that is attached to the shelf - on that specific wine including the overall match with their specific taste and the criteria on which the recommendation is based. As any interaction with the Smart Wine Shelf produces data that can be used for market research, this method of using IoT to combine customer experience and analytics is an essential tool for retailers.
Other developments from hybris Labs include ‘Stream’, a concept that allows the television to be connected to online shopping for this to be synchronized with a mobile device or tablet. Another example is the integration of shopping with social media, via a mobile device and location-based services.
“We are delighted by the success of hybris Labs in driving innovation and ideas in the commerce space,” said Rick Chavie, Chief Solutions Officer at hybris. “It has been instrumental in helping our customers get more from their retail businesses and enabling consumers to have a more complete shopping experience. By joining forces with our strategic development partner, arvato Systems North America, our joint team will be able to provide further game-
changing technologies and shape the commerce experience of the future."
In the era of digitally empowered consumers, the way in which businesses must engage with customers and ‘manage relationships’ has changed radically. Businesses are struggling to meet these needs with their existing tools. The new partnership will provide the freedom to develop new and innovative ideas into real-world solutions enabling hybris and arvato Systems to transform the way in which companies target and approach their clients and consumers.
“Being a long-term hybris implementation and product development partner, this is the next logical step for our relationship. arvato Systems is really excited about this joint opportunity. We see the retail industry and commerce landscape rapidly changing and evolving. Together with hybris Labs we will pre-empt the next big trends in commerce,” explained Georg Kreimer, Product Development Manager, arvato Systems North America.
Building on the success of the initiatives already developed by hybris Labs, the hybris and arvato Systems North America teams are now focused on exploring how the IoT can be leveraged to create better commerce experiences.
