The IT service provider from the Bertelsmann Group was able to acquire several customers as the new year began with its new array of services. Among other activities, arvato Systems will provide complete smart me-tering services for the public utility companies in the German cities of Detmold, Fröndenberg, and Uelzen. According to Christoph Hüls, General Manager at Stadtwerke Detmold, “Two aspects were specifically important to us when choosing a service provider to work with for our smart metering services. First, a leading provider like arvato Systems is able to provide us with an important level of security for our customer data, with ISO-certified IT and basic security certification from the BSI. Secondly, we have already been working with the concept of smart metering for several years and have developed a certain level of expertise in that time. For this reason, we were looking for an innovative partner who could offer us a long-term collaboration with much potential, including for the further development of smart market solutions.” Mr. Hüls is not the only satisfied customer. The modular full-service solution from arvato Systems offers all services from a single source. It includes an ICT platform, which is operated from the company’s own ISO/IEC 27001-certified data center, as well as a comprehensive array of business process outsourcing services. The spectrum of services includes multi-branch measurement services and services for switching facilities using renewable energy sources, as well as future services such as BSI-compliant certification management (in the role of sub-certificate authority) and the administration of the smart meter gateway.
