- arvato Systems sets up new high-availability SAP system landscape.
- Three months into the project and there was already a total 21 SAP systems in productive operation by the end of the year
The company, based in Regensburg, Germany, released the 21 SAP systems for productive operation, following a preparation phase of only three months. Approximately 1,400 users now have access to the new SAP ERP system run by arvato Systems. This incorporates all the necessary business processes, ranging from inventory management to transport logistics. A specialist application landscape developed in house by the forestry company has also been adopted.
Close collaboration with the customer enabled the seamless transition of the five existing SAP landscapes onto the new IT platform provided by arvato Systems. Aside from the platform switchover, this project phase also covered the Unicode conversion and SAP release switchover for each SAP system landscape as required.
Following the successful implementation of the high-availability system landscape, arvato Systems will now be running Bayerische Staatsforsten AöR’s SAP systems for many years to come. The IT service provider will also be managing the SAP basis support and administration of all hardware/software components from its branch in Leipzig, Germany. The entire landscape will be run in two of the forest company’s data centers in Munich, Germany.
Bayerische Staatsforsten was founded as a public-law institution in 2005. Its 2,700 employees are responsible for managing over 800,000 hectares, a third of the total forest area in the German state of Bavaria. The company annually harvests approximately 5,000,000 m³ of wood in this area.
