Thin clients consume up to 50 percent less electricity
According to researchers from Germany's Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, British businesses could save £78 million ($154 million U.S.) in electricity and cut CO2 emissions by 485,000 tons a year by choosing thin clients instead of PCs.
"Thin client computing is the only solution for effective IT energy, cost and administration management. With 2X ThinClientServer 5, companies can familiarize themselves with the technology and prepare for the deployment of thin clients," says John Haskins, GM, 2X Software USA.
How 2X ThinClientServer works
2X ThinClientServer deploys a small footprint Linux-based OS to popular thin client devices (VXL, HP, Neoware, Wyse, Maxspeed and more) and to old or new low energy PCs. Thin clients always boot the latest version of the OS from the ThinClientServer. Hardware & connection settings (including resolution, logging and more) are retrieved from the server when the client logs on, making thin clients easy to manage.
