(pressebox) (Koeln, 19.11.2011) The registry of uk-domains, Nominet, will introduce multi-year registration available from 1 May 2012. Till this date registrars can register uk-domains-like co.uk and org.uk- only for the fixed period of two years, the traditional period for uk-domains.

Nominet declares: "The new multi-year registration periods will offer greater choice for registrants, who can secure their domain for a longer term without worrying about regular renewals."

Nominet reports, that before taking the decision, it has consulted with its members and the wider domain name community to ensure their views on whether and how to bring in flexible registrations were taken into account.
