(pressebox) (Düsseldorf, 17.04.2026) Rheinmetall Air Defence, the Swiss subsidiary of the Düsseldorf-based technology group, is constructing a new workshop and warehouse in Studen, Switzerland. The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by company representatives, local councillors, and the construction management team.
The new hall is expected to be ready for occupation by the end of 2026. A close cooperation with regional companies during the planning and construction phases will specifically boost local economic activity.
At the Test Centre Ochsenboden site, which is operated by Rheinmetall Weapon Munition AG Switzerland, resources can be deployed efficiently through the targeted use of the existing infrastructure, enabling valuable synergies to be realised. The construction project is a key component of Rheinmetall Air Defence’s growth strategy. Its aim is to optimise previously decentralised acceptance and dispatch processes in the long term. In the future, the new hall will serve as a central hub for acceptance preparations, system acceptance procedures, repairs, finishing, as well as packaging and dispatch.
Up to 30 employees are to be recruited gradually to support the new acceptance and dispatch operations. Around eight of these staff members will be based on-site permanently.
One of the location’s key advantages is its proximity to the Ochsenboden test centre, which is operated by Rheinmetall Weapon Munition AG Switzerland. This investment demonstrates Rheinmetall’s clear commitment to Switzerland as an industrial site, ensuring its long-term competitiveness in the field of state-of-the-art defence technology.
